Spring 2011: Bee-keeping is added to the CFS garden with the help of Mel Gadd (partner of MS art teacher Laurie Tennant-Gadd) and a Friends Council on Education grant.

July 24, 2011:
Former head of school Mary Newmann dies and Mary M. Newmann Student Enrichment Fund is established.

September 23, 2011: CFS celebrates it's 50th birthday with an all-school assembly and cake.

September 30, 2011: CFS holds a 50th anniversary parade from Friends Meeting at Cambridge to the school where students, faculty, and trustees formed a human 50 on the CFS field.

November 2011: Second-grade teacher Chris Hoeh is first runner-up in the nation-wide Great American Teach Off, recognized for his innovative social justice curriculum.

December 8, 2011: Former interim co-head of school and director of Middle School Laraine Morin dies. A fund for professional development for teachers had been established in her and Helen McElroy's name when they completed their headship.
