Early Morning Care
The Early Morning Care program is a supervised, early-arrival program for students in PreK through grade 8. The program takes place on all school days from 7:15 to 8:00 a.m., but is not held during vacation periods or school holidays. Board games, building blocks, paper and markers will be available for children to use. The majority of students attending are enrolled for the full year; however, if a situation arises that will require you to bring your child early one day, you may contact the coordinator to see if space is available for your child. There is an additional tuition fee for the Early Morning Care Program.
The XD1 program is an engaging and creative program for children from PreK through grade 4. It is offered from the end of each school day until 5:45 p.m. Drama, crafts, cooking, outdoor play, and gym time are some of the activities that take place. There is an additional tuition fee for the XD1 Program.
The goal of the Program is to create a relaxed and dynamic atmosphere that offers opportunities for group activities, cooperative projects, and independent exploration. The program provides a stimulating, nurturing, and fun environment where children make choices, become increasingly self-motivated and autonomous, and take risks to broaden and develop their range of interests and skills.
The goal of the XD2 program for students in grades 5 through 8 is to care for each student's individual academic, social, and emotional needs. Students enjoy a healthy balance of physical, mental, and social activities between the hours of 3:00 p.m.and 5:45 p.m., Monday through Friday. There is an additional tuition fee for the XD2 Program.
Students begin each afternoon with a healthful snack, followed by homework. Study Center is a mandatory component of every child's Extended Day experience. This is a block of time set aside for homework in a quiet atmosphere. Staff members are on hand to assist students and to facilitate communication with teachers around assignments and projects.
Recreation finishes up the afternoon with arts and crafts, board games, computer games, blogging, cooking, sewing, knitting, STEAM activities and additional gym or outside time. Friday has its own schedule, which may include special events and guest teachers.
Early Dismissal Day Program
The Early Dismissal Day Program provides activities and childcare for CFS students on Early Dismissal Thursdays. On these six dates, school closes for students at 12:15 pm. so that faculty and staff may participate in professional development work. The program runs from 12:15 pm. with lunch that children bring from home and runs until 3:00 pm. when the XD programs resume for the afternoon.
