 | 2nd-Graders Present CFS T-shirt 2012 5/15/2012 Annually, the CFS T-shirt is designed by the second-graders at Cambridge Friends School. The project is part of their year-long study of cotton and workers. Each year a different theme guides the design. This years’ design takes its inspiration from CFS's 50th anniversary celebration. The artwork is a group effort. Each child is responsible for a piece of the whole. And, in keeping with the Equity Testimony, the T-shirts are sewn by workers employed by companies committed to fair treatment of their employees. On Significant Elders Day, the second-graders unveiled the new design for the CFS T-shirt. This year Significant Elders Day and the 50th anniversary weekend (May 11-13) coincided, and both elders and alums had the opportunity to purchase the new CFS T-Shirt.

  | 4 CFS Students Go to State Science Fair 5/7/2012
Four of the 10 CFS science projects entered in the May 5 Northeast Regional Middle School Science and Engineering Fair won places at the Massachusetts State Science Fair, on Saturday, June 2, at Worcester State College. The winners of the Regional Science Fair were chosen from a field of 200 top projects, from 50 public and independent schools. "Statistically, CFS students winning spots in the State Science Fair is pretty huge, especially considering it was the first time CFS students participated in a science fair and that many of the competing schools had much larger student bodies than CFS," remarked Cindy Sweetser, grades 7 and 8 science teacher.

  | Breakers' Leslie Osborne at "Kicking and Sharing" 4/19/2012 Seven years and nearly six hundred soccer balls later, Kicking and Sharing is still going strong at Cambridge Friends School. Each spring, through the sport of soccer, this popular after school event engages CFS students physically while empowering them to reach out and give back. Students who participate not only play soccer but also collect and donate soccer balls to organizations that are committed to improving the lives of children around the world. Students make this outreach personal by writing a brief message on and signing the soccer ball s/he donates. The goal is to donate another 100 soccer balls. This year, Leslie Osborne, captain of the Boston Breakers and a former US national soccer team member, will be joining the CFS Middle School students for Kicking and Sharing day on Monday, May 7, 3:00-4:15 p.m.
